          Job Description

          POSITION SUMMARY:
          Assists surgeons, anesthesiologists and registered nurses in the care of patients before, during and after surgery. Prepares operating room equipment, instruments and supplies, and hands these materials to the surgeon during surgery.

          QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
          Licensure, Registration, Certifications:
          Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist (LCCST) preferred or Practical Nurse license (LPN) from the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) from an approved American Heart Association training program or CPR for the Professional Rescuer from the American Red Cross.

          Education:
          High School graduate or equivalent.

          Experience:
          No experience required for graduates of an accredited Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program. One-year of surgical experience if trained on the job (OJT).

          Qualifications and Skills:
          Requires demonstrates good human relations/communication skills. Clinical expertise in delivery of patient care. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide the care appropriate to age of the patients served on assigned unit. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient\\\\\\\'s status in addition to being able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient\\\\\\\'s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs.
